Writer Coaching

In addition to being the author of eight novels,  I have written what is now regarded as the most comprehensive text/reference book for creating writing. The Story is Not Enough! includes everything any writer needs to take her story from a vague idea to a finished manuscript. Using the innovative Normandy system, this book presents a step-by-step process for developing and refining a story idea. Authors are guided through every step from creating an initial story outline through analysis and refinements of story conflicts and stakes and an expansion of the Core Story with the addition of substories, secondary stories and backstories. This book shows readers learn how to construct meaningful character biographies and use them to create three-dimensional characters and plot character arcs. Readers will also learn how to write dialogue that will bring characters to life and scene descriptions that will make readers feel they are part of the story. In this book, readers will discover how to choose the right point of view, how to master the principles of show-don’t-tell, how to manage tension and write chapter hooks and all the other tools that will lift your story to new heights.
